The Garmin "X series" (our term, not Garmin's) series of handheld GPS receivers appears to have mostly evolved from the 2004 models of the similar names.

The Garmin eTrex Legend Cx™, Garmin eTrex Venture Cx™, and Garmin eTrex Vista Cx™ appear to share only an injection mold with the 2002-era products of similar name; they share almost no operational characteristics with the black and white models of old. They have the Mediatek receiver for much improved reception over the earlier models and feature microSD expandable memory.

The Garmin 60CSx™, Garmin 60Cx™, GarminG 76CSx™, and Garmin 76Cx™ are very evolutionary from to the models from 2004 from the same name without the "x"; compared to their predecessors, they offer the SIRFstarIII receiver for excellent reception and use microSD expandable memory.
