1.

Can I use rechargeable batteries in the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx?

Yes. NIMH rechargeable batteries provide a good value in a frequently used GPS. The current generation of rechargeable batteries (2500Mah and more) can provide a battery life comparable to alkalines. The new generation of 'low discharge' batteries can provide a long shelf life for infrequent users.

2.

Can I charge the batteries while they're installed in the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx?

No. You must remove the batteries from the unit to recharge them. Even with rechargeable batteries installed, these units do not have charging ciruits in place to limit the current flow into the GPS. Given the risk of overheating and leaking, the units will not do this.

3.

Can I use the power adapter from my cell phone (like the Razr) to power the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx?

Yes. It's a standard USB mini-b connector and can draw power from that connector.

4.

If I power through the round connector, what are the rules?

The DC input from the round power connector is hooked to an internal DC voltage regulator. The inputs on that connector can acceptfrom 8 to 26 volts; the voltage will be regulated to a safe level inside the GPS.
