Explorists use a proprietary USB cable to connect with the host computer to transfer maps, waypoints, routes, and tracks. Magellan Explorist XL™ uses a different cable than found on the rest of the Explorist products. | |

The power cable is exactly the same used on Sony Playstation Portable, Creative Zen Mp3 player, Dell Axim X5 PDA, and a number of other commodity devices. Any power source delivering 5Vdc, 1A, positive tip should suffice. | |

The cable should be attached with the length of the wire running down the length of the unit. If you align it "backwards" (and on all but the XL, this is possible) you'll get this very error message. | |

No. The Magellan Explorist XL™ supports commodity AA or AAA batteries and will not recharge them. | |

Since the Magellan Explorist XL™ powers from USB, you can use devices like a battery adapter or a solar adapter to power the GPS. | |
